This year, our VBS at Glyndon UMC served 60 children with their parents and 33 volunteers. We had children who are part of our church family and some who had never stepped foot into a church before. We had children who come every year and those who are brand new this year. We had 3 year olds who couldn’t contain their excitement and 11 year olds who are already asking to be volunteers next year.
Each morning, our children went “To Mars and Beyond” learning Bible Stories, making crafts, doing science experiments, singing songs, eating snacks, and giggling with our trusty robot friend, EP3-20. Our VBS parents enjoyed a bit of a respite each morning, while our volunteers went home each afternoon overjoyed but exhausted. But all of us, journeyed through the week learning and reminding ourselves that God can do far beyond all that we can ask or imagine, by his power at work within us! (Ephesians 3:20)
Our Friday night dinner served over 60 people, including VBS families and church families. We ate an array of junk food, sang and danced like no one was watching (despite the “mamarazzi” taking videos), and had a wonderful time of fellowshipping with our new and old friends.
A successful Vacation Bible School requires the efforts of our entire church. We are so thankful for the members who were able to volunteer, the moms who drove their teens each day, those who decorated, those who helped clean up, those who donated supplies, those who prayed for us, those who hugged and welcomed our families into worship on Sunday morning, and everyone who cheered on and supported the ministry of VBS.
